It is important to go into the negotiation with positive thinking.

In order to get the loading dock supervisor on board with the project and his cooperation in allowing the employee to be assigned to the project team there are several aspects I would touch on. First, it is important to go into the negotiation with positive thinking. When there is positive thinking involved, regardless of the outcome, it is likely that the positive energy will lead to a positive outcome. Although there we will go in with positive thinking, it is important to consider not only the positive outcome, but also any possible negative outcomes. We want to know what is possible so we can plan for any outcome. It is also essential that we go into the negotiation prepared. We must do our research in order to gather crucial and important information and prepare for the negotiation. The knowledge that is gathered will allow us to refute the arguments of the loading dock supervisor.
The way the negotiation is communicated is also important. It is essential that we are articulate. We need to speak clearly while communicating during the negotiation. The articulate communication will lead to the building of value. When the other party understands the value rather than being told what needs to happen, the negotiation will be more successful.
Finally in negotiation, it is essential to maintain the give and take policy. We are conditioned to ask for more in negotiations, which leads to the reduction of position and value in the negotiation. It is essential for both parties to give and take in order to meet in the middle. The negotiation may lead to sacrificing in some less vital areas, but will provide for the loading dock supervisor to not only cooperate with the project, but also with the employee joining the project team.
Utilizing this strategy will ultimately get the loading dock supervisor on board with the project as well as with the employee being on the project team.
